OHINEMURI'S POSITION.
ALL RATES COLLECTED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, Wednesday. Reporting to the last meeting of the Ohineniuri County Council, the chairman. Mr. W. Marshall, stated that the Manpaiti riding had the rare record of having paid 100 per cent of the current year's rates, every penny of the rates having been paid before March 31. lt)38. Probably on no other occasion in the history of the county had this occurred. Arrears of rates collected had brought the percentage of collections to rates struck to 106.7. In Waihi ami Waikino ridings the percentages were 105.03 and 103.07 respectively and over the whole county 101.34 per cent. The total rates outstanding had lieen reduced by £20"2 to £2807 1/8. the lowest figure on record. The ere-.'it balance of the general account had been increased !from~£SG4 to £1435. and the public debt had Wen reduced by £">O9 to £8183. The amount of interest paid on bank overdraft. £2.'> 2/9. wae the lowest amount I paid for 14 years.
