FACIAL EGZEMAr EPIDEMIC. minister reviews vra&Ki (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The field staff of the" Department of Igriculture lias been considerably reinforced jn order to intensify the investigations into 'facial eczema, and the is concentrating on checkJngt the trouble. '• ,3*e -Minister, of Agriculture, the Hon. •W! Lee' Martin, interviewed to-day said that extensive investigations in 1935 by Dr. Hopkirk led to the pronounced opinion that the disease was definitely due to dietet conditions, and resulted from a flush of grass following a dry summer. The possibility of this outbreak was anticipated' by the Department in an official publication in February, and preventive and remedial measures were outlined. A number of articles had been published in the newspapers, and broadcast' talks had been given. Additional veterinary surgeon* had been drafted to South Auckland, and all possible advice ' and information was being given "to farmers.
