Solid's predominated in the Government division at prices slightly lower than the levels of recent sales. I Banks were practically unaltered. I All improvement in New Zealand ' Guarantee saw buyers at 4 6 and sellers lld higher. Loan and Mercantile ordinary j wore asked for at £37 10/, with no sellers. After a sale of New Zealand Refrigerating jat au advance of 3d. to 186, buyers j offered 18 4, sellers 18 '!). _ Contributing* were wanted at yesterday's sale price of 8,3.^ Woollens were again weak, but breweries showed a slight improvement, Xew Zealands finishing with a market between £2 4 3 and £2 4'6. Metal shares barely maintained recent rates. Zinc preferences dropped to £2 5/. after which more sellers asked that price, buyers (id lower. Broken Hill Proprietary stayed at the lowest point of yesterday's business. Lyells. Barriers and Morgans were quiet and unchanged.
