LONG PUBLIC LIFE.
MOUNT ALBERT COUNCIIXOR.
Appreciative reference was made to the long span of public life of Mr. P. Floyd, who is not seeking re-election in May, at last night's meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council. In moving that the council should place on record its appreciation of the work of Mr. Floyd, the Mayor, Mr. H. A. Anderson, referred to the lon.sr record of public life that lay behind Mr. Floyd. For 2.) years he had been a Justice of the Peace and. before being elected to the Mount Albert Borough Council, he had occupied a seat on the Te Kuiti Borough Council. "He was first elected to this council in 1927," said Mr. Anderson, "and he has sat continuously since then, and has been chairman of many important committees." Many other members spoke in a similar strain, expressing regret that Mr. Floyd was not standing again, and wished him and Mrs. Floyd a pleasant life of retirement from public service. Councillor Floyd thanked the Mayor and councillors for their complimentary references.
