TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. BUSINESS BRIGHTENS. HEAVY TURNOVER RECORDED. (Bj Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH. this day. Business brightened to a heavy turnover oil the Exchange this morning, with large monetary considerations entailed in many of the sales. Broken Hill Proprietary, ti. •J. Coles and Electrolytic; Zincs, all comparatively high-pricM shares, had better activity than for some time. Among a few .stronger shares were Colonial Sugars and Taranaki Oilfields, the former rising 10/, to £48. and the latter sd, to sales and further buyers at Hj. There were several wide differences between prices in Christchurch and in Am Island. Electrolytic Zinc preference, for example, brought £2 (i !) in the north, but sold 13 cheaper locally. Auckland Gas were (id under par in Auckland, yet changed hands at £1 in Christchurch. Little support came in for insurances at the first local call, the only buyer being tor Standards at £2 17 0. Nationals had sellers at 17 S. New Zealands at £2 10'. and South British at £2 4 0. In the loan and agencies New Zealand and River I'lates. which had a buyer yesterday at II . wore quoted between that figure and K! . These are the first local otters for this scrip for some time. Lower metal share prices were revealed ill sales of Mount Lyells 5d down, at CI i 4: Mount Morgans. "2d down, at 0 2: and Bioken Hill Proprietary at a drop of Oil. Elect ioh tie Zincs remained steady. New Zealand industrials had fair interest taken in them. Dominion Fertilisers were a-krd for at £1 45, and New Zealand Fertilizers at IS, .
