Business brightened to a heavy turnover oil the Exchange this morning, with large monetary considerations entailed in many of the sales. Broken Hill Proprietary, ti. •J. Coles and Electrolytic; Zincs, all comparatively high-pricM shares, had better activity than for some time. Among a few .stronger shares were Colonial Sugars and Taranaki Oilfields, the former rising 10/, to £48. and the latter sd, to sales and further buyers at Hj. There were several wide differences between prices in Christchurch and in Am Island. Electrolytic Zinc preference, for example, brought £2 (i !) in the north, but sold 13 cheaper locally. Auckland Gas were (id under par in Auckland, yet changed hands at £1 in Christchurch. Little support came in for insurances at the first local call, the only buyer being tor Standards at £2 17 0.
