Opportunities Lost in Painting Contest
II v-> " Use Brighter Colours" Says the Judge I wonder whai Alice in Wonderland would have said when she saw a bunny starting off to market, with his shopping basket swinging jauntily over one arm. And not a white rabbit, mind you, but grey, black or brown, according to the fancy of readers. fTie only fault the judge had to find with our last painting competition was that perhaps the colours were just a shade sombre—in some cases the bunny's fur has the same colour as the trunks of the trees. His flyaway ->carf offered plenty of opportunity for readers to use their brightest colours, as did the toadstools and the flowers by the side of the path. Beiyl Weston caught the idea quite well in her picture of a bunny with crimson scarf, yellow jacket and bright blue trousers. Marion Sinel r'mse red, yellow, blue and green, with darker green for the grass. Here are the names of the twenty-four lucky winners:— Beryl Weston, Whangarei, age 14, fountain pen. Marion Sinel.
