FARMERS' TRADING IN DEMAND. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND FIRM. There were no special features on 'Change at the fiist call of the week. A small list r.t sales was put through, and t'resli bidding w.is nt about late rates. Amongst, local i.-sues Fanners' Trading again showed improvement, selling 2d higher, at £1 O/.i. Bycrofts, on the other hand, dianc'il hands 1/' lower, at A! 2 l/'l>. In the timber section a buyer ior Taupo J < it.aiM raised his limit 3d, to 5/3, sellers stil! n-.kimr 6.3. In Uic banking class New Zealatids held the week-end use with business at ii' 2 3/7. and more wanted. L'nion Ranks were .■cain asked for at £8 12,, and a seller came ill at £S 1(3/. Auckland lias shares were dull, there being no buvers for either 01 Unary or contributing issue. Australian industrials wt re dull, but Mount. Lyrlls had a better market, with quotations from £-1 7/6 to £1 9/. Taranaki Oils were close, businc s between U I and 6 ?: There was a moderate inquiry for Government stocks, and the '38-'52 issue sold unchanged at £ 103 7/(3. Australians Improve. Revival of interest in Australian securities. especially metals, marked the noon call. Buyers for Electrolytic Zincs moved up sharply to £2 1/ for the ordinaries, and £2 "1 for the preferences, while Mount Ijj ells and Broken Hill Proprietary were quoted hiirher. ("hain stores were affected by the better tone of the market, (J. J. Coles having improved offers of £3 10/'. with sellers also higher, at £4 0/6. Woolworths (Sydney) sold Sri up.
