MUSIC LOVERS' CLUB.
OPENING OF SEASON. The Music Lovers' Club, which is entering upon its fourth season, held the first meeting on Friday in the rooms of the Overseas League, when there was a large attendance of members and guests. A well contrasted programme was presented under the direction of the president, Mr. Walter Impett, and a high standard of interpretation was maintained throughout. Prior to the commencement of the programme messages from the overseas patrons of the club were read by the vice-president, Mr. A. E. F. Court. The following vocal and instrumental contributions were rendered: —Pianoforte solos, "Presto Agitato" in G Minor (Mendelssohn) and "Les Deux Alouettes" (Lesclietizkv), Miss Gwynneth Coleman; songs, '"0 Ship of My Delight" (Montague Phillips) and "Two Little Words" (Bralie), Miss Alison Cooper; "One Spring Morning" (Nevin) and "Spring is a Lovely Lady"' (Montague Phillips), Miss Lorna Johnson; "A Dream of Spring" (Granville Bantock), "To a Wild Rose" (McDowell), and "Silent Worship" (Handel), Mr. Fred Blenkarn; "After the Rain, the Roses" (Besly) and aria, "Ombrai Mai Fu" (Handel), (violin obligato, Mr. Norman Dimery), Miss Eileen Yeoman; pianoforte solos, '"To the Spring" (Grieg) and "Rhapsodie Hongroise" No. 6 (Liszt), Miss Marjorie Seel; aria, "Gold Within the Furnace Tried" (Handel) and ".Tune Music?' (Trent), Miss Vivienne Scott; violin solos, "Gavotte" (Bach), Melody for G String, "After Sunset" (Pryor), Mr; Norman Dimery; songs. "I Triumph! I Triumph!" (Carissimi). "The Sleep Song" (Leoncavallo), "England" (Besly), Mr. Alfred Porter.
The accompanists were Miss Molly Cater, Miss Marjorie Seel, and Mr. Walter Impett.
