LANCASHIRE SOCIETY.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
The annual business meeting of the Lancashire Society was held in the Arts Hall last week. Mr. J. H. Smith, chairman, in outlining the rules and objects of the society, pointed out the notable example of citizens of Lancashire birth, among them being the late Richard John Seddon, a former Prime Minister of New Zealand. Mr. S. Bibby, secretary, in presentthe yearly report, commented on the large increase of members during the year. The treasurer's report showed the society to be in a sound financial position. The election of officers then took place and resulted as follows:—Mr. J. H. Smith, president; Mr. S. Bibby, secretary; Jlrs. Jas. Gates, assistant secretary; Mrs, Godsall, treasurer; committee members, Mesdames Jenkins, Dawson, Cook, Ganglian, Miss Brassington and Messrs. Jenkins, (ilover. Ashworth, Taylor, Mayall, and Goulden.
