GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
MARKETS ARE STEADY. POTATOES SLIGHTLY CHEAPER. There have been few alterations in the rrain and produce markets since last eport. Oflcrings of pollard from A>isralia have been freer and merchants have )ccn able to cover their requirements for i few months ahead. The local price is lnnltored at £9 10/ per ton through store, it which figure there is an excellent Inmand. B'i« unchanged at £G The lons s pe!l of dry weather has not increased the lemaiid for this line. I here has been no chance in -fowlwheat. maize or barley. The shipment of wheat is due to arrive on April 14. and local stock will probably prove suflii'ient in the meantime. The sale of maize is prejudiced by the continued hot weather. Potatoes are in plentiful supply and there has been a slight easing in quotations. Onions from Pukekohe are steady at 11 to 11/6 per cwt. Merchants are still very busy distributing fertilisers, and there is also a keen demand for grass and clover seeds. Following are latest quotations, the prices being based on rates for delivery ex city stores- — Pollard and .Bran.—Merchants' prices: Pollard, local, £7 15/ per ton; Australian, £0 10/; bran. £6 15/. Oats.—Feed: B Gartorifl. 4/5 to 4'6 per bushel: A Cartons, 4/11: clipped Cartons. clipped Duns, 5/9 to 6/; clipped Algerians. 5/0. Barley Meal.—ll/ per 1001b. Chaff—C.b.o.s., £10 per ton. Fowl Wheat. — Australian, 7/1 per bushel. Maize.—6/4 to 6'6 per bushel. Bailey.— Feed: 5/ to 5/2 per bushel; undipped. 4/6 to 4/0. TVheatmeal.—l2/6 to 13' per 1001b. Potatoes.—Manawatu, £7 15/ to £S per ton. Onions.—Pukekohe, 11/ to 11/6 per cwt.
