NEW LYNN BOROUGH.

An ordinary meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council was held last evening. The Mayor, Mr. Geo. Lawson, presided.

Plunket Society.--The New Lynn Plunket Society appealed to the council for financial assistance. The council donated two guineas.

I'. and T. department.—A communication was received from the I'. and T. Departincnt relative to the rc-instatement of road services arising from the laying of telegraph and telephone lines. The proposals were not fully acceptable to the council and the borough engineer was authorised to submit terms under which the council will carry out the necessary work.

Scheme 1.1.- A letter was received from the Secretary of Labour relating to works being carried out in the borough under scheme I.'!. The council was advised that works which were to have been terminated as at April 2, may be continued until the jobs are completed, and the necessary monetary authority would be provided on application to the Depariment of Labour.

Xew Lynn Domain.—A letter was received ironi the Lynndale Amateur Athletic, and Cycle Club relative to the council's new sports ground. In expressing lull approval oi' the council's proposals, it was stated that the cinder track ami banked cycle track would be a great attraction to athletes and followers of athletics from many nrles around Auckland. The dub membership numbered over ].~>o and a meeting had been lalied to discuss possible ways of assisting the council in its undertaking.

Town Planning. A report was received from Mr. K. V. Blake re the recent conference with Messrs. Mav.son and Walshe concerning the borough town plan. He stated that very little alteration to the proposals would be necessary as generally on examination it was found that Xew Lynn standards were higher than the minimum required by tho Town Pl.tuning Board. The zoning of the district had been accepted, while the width of streets generally was agreed to when reasons for their selection were given. The Town Planning Board was still very anxious to have additional recreation areas shown on the plan, but that would involve the council in acquiring extra arc.is and meeting the cost.
