PRESENTATIONS MADE.

DR. AND MRS. C. E. MAGUIRE

Presentat ions were made to Dr. and Mrs. ('. E. Maguire yesterday afternoon when a farewell gathering was held at: the .Auckland Infirmary. Dr. ('. K. Maguire. who for sTx years was medical superintendent of the Auckland Infirmary, leaves shortly on a holiday visit to England and at the function yesterday afternoon both he and bis wife received the good wishes of the patients and staff of the infirmary.

The function was held in the grounds of the infirmary, and l)r. Maguire was presented ny the Rev. W. ('. Wood. 011 behalf of the Auckland Hospital Board, with an illuminated address. The Rev. W. t'. Wood referred to the 27 years of valuable service that Dr. Maguire had given the Auckland Hospital and also spoke of bis good services to the Auckland Infirmary. Speeches were also made by Mr. M. J. Hooper, representing Mr. (foidstine. Mayor of One Tree Hill, and Mrs. Alfred Kidd. a representative of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary. On behalf of the patients of the infirmary Dr. Maguire was presented with a gold engraved watch.

Following the ceremony in the grounds, afternoon tea was served in the infirmary by members of the staff. The Kev. Wood referred to the able assistance that Mrs. Maguirc had given her husband and she was presented with two (ravelling cases from the staff of the infirmary. Dr. Maguire was also presented with a travelling rug. During afternoon tea items were given bv the nurses of the infirmary, including a song by Nurse Craig and an elocutionary item bv Nurse Ruben.

Among those present were:—Lady Davis. Sister A. O. Blewett. matron of the infirmary. Mrs. Alfred Kidd. Major A. Cordon. Mrs. W. Kirkham and Miss L. Curson. of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. M. M. Dreaver. of the I Auckland Hospital Board, and Miss V. i ('usscii. sub-mat rou of the Auckland : Hospital.
