CATHOLIC TEACHING.
COMMITTEE'S FINDINGS.
DIRECT CONTRADICTION".
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON", Monday
In a statement issued to-day the Rc\- ] Father J. A. Higgins, director of social; studies to Archbishop O'Shea, makes the following comment: "On Saturday there was published an 'important statement by a committee of Wellington citizens, and in the preliminary comment we read that the 'committee wasdrawn from the churches, medical and legal professions, educational bodies and social service organisations. "Although this remark was not, of course, intended to mislead, it may ha\e triven not a few people an idea that the Catholic Church had had a part in the committee's deliberations. Such wa> not the case. The position is that the I Catholic Church would not have consented to the recommendation* contained in the committee's statement. I \ctuallv. the committee's findings are ! in man'i points in direct contradiction [to the aching of the Catholic Church.
