BUYERS CAUTIOUS. DULL TONE PERSISTS. BUT BROKEN HILLS ACTIVE. Business quiet and values showed little change at the opening call on the Auckland Stock Exchange to-day. Buyers for Australian securities quoted slightly lower than Saturday in most cases, evidently awaiting developments, overseas. Broken Hill Proprietary were traded freely at a rise of 2d, but closed a sljade easier between £3 0.3 and £3 06. Buyers for Electrolytic Zinc "p r efs\ reduced their offers and bids for Broken Hili Souths stopped 1/ lower, at £1 11/, with sellers 2/ above. Local securities were very quiet, but remained Steady for the most part. Peters lee, however, had weaker sellers at £1 7'fl. with buyers 2/6 lqwer. Dominion Breweries were also easier between £1 17 6 and £1 18/3. In the mining section Golden Crown sold at a drop of 2d. Mnrtha's were quoted between 14'3 -,\nA .15/3. Government 'securities v.pre steady on the -whole, though 4 per cent, 1946-49, stock eokl 2, 6 down. Drop in Peters' Ice. A sale of Peters' Ice at JEI 5/3 was the outstanding feature of the noon rail. The last sale early this month was put through at a price 7/3 higher. The market -was even more sluggish than in the morning, and there were few chances in quotations besides a rise of a few pence in offers for Electrolytic Zincs. Mount Lyells and G. J. Coles.
