Sharp Fighting on Railway In North. CHINESE COUNTER-ATTACKS. (ISeceivqd 12.30 p.m.) LONDON. March 17. A message from Shanghai states that sharp lighting is taking place in North 1 sinan on the Tientsiu-Pukow railwav, where the Japanese drive is unabated. The Chinese claim successful delaying counter-attacks at Shantung. Honan and Shansi. A message from Tokyo states that the Japanese effected a landing at Tungchow, on the north bank of the Yangtse. "The Times"' correspondent i.t Shanghai says the Japanese announce the capture of a Russian aviator, the tir>t to be taken prisoner, who parachuted from his 'plane when it was shot down at W uliu. The other occupants, a Russian and a Chinese, were killed. j The Japanese report that 0(1(1 Chinese | shock troops were annihilated in a<- | tempting to cross the \ elhiw Ri\er in | order to attack the Japanese <m the i east bank.
