BOXING SEASON.
OPENING PROGRAMME. KELLY'S PROFESSIONAL DEBUT. COLTEAUX AND JOHNSTONE MATCHED. The Auckland Boxing Association opens its 1038 season on Monday, March 28, with a double-barrelled programme of wide local appeal. A professional welter-weight contest of light three-minute rounds features! two leading local boxers, Victor Colteaux and Don .Johnstone, and will be one of the main events. Colteaux is recognised as probably j the most unorthodox yet entertaining fighter in the boxing same in Xcw Zealand to-day. It can be said of him that never yet lias he taken part in a- contest that disappointed his many supporters. Johnstone, a fast hard-hitting sggres- | sive tighter, whose main characteristic is | his ability to tight back strongly under j fire, will more than make matters interesting for the tear-in Colteaux. The other feature bout is a. lightweight contest of eight 'rounds, the popular hard-hitting Auckland champion, Percy Kelly, and the seasoned professional, Ralph Aitken. Kelly is well known as a vigorous hitt°r with both hands, but in Aitker. he meets a. clever experienced professional. Tf Kelly is able to dispose of the Southerner, he certainly will make his mark in the professional ranks. The amateur programme has been selected with the utmost care, and promises excellent entertainment.
