FRAUD CHARGES.
TWO FURTHER ARRESTS. Two further arrests on charges of fraud concerning compensation nllegedly paid f<>r injuries received while men were working on ships, were made yesterday. thus making a total of five arrests. This morning. Peter Freeman. French polisher, aged and .lohn Freeman, painter, aped 30. appeared before Mr. <'. R. Orr Walker. S.M.. in the Police Court. The former was charged with obtaining from the Colonial Sugar Refining Company on March 7. £'.l 18/3 lty falsely representing that he was entitled to compensation for an injury received while working on the lighter Planter on January 1. while the latter was charged with a similar offence in respect of £4 10/ obtained on December 24 front the New Zealand Insurance Company for an injury received on the ship Cera on December 15. Detnctive Sergnanl Nalder obtained remands in each case until March "-4. Accused, for whom Mr. M. Robinson appeared, were allowed bail in one surety of £.>!>.
