Madge Elliott En Route to Australia. Mrs. Cyril RitcTiard. better known to world theatre-lovers as Madge Elliott, passed •through Auckland to-day. bound for Sydney and a five weeks' holiday with her parents. When interviewed in her cabin this morning Miss Klliott. who i>s h slender blonde, was wearin« r a rust:-coloured : lounge coat.
"The stage ill England," said Mis> Elliott, "is holding its own as well as ever, in fact there have been anunusual number of successes of late." A brilliant season, she said, is predicted for Noel Coward's "Operette." which opens in London next week. This is .Voel Coward's first new production since the "To-night at 8.30"' series. Miss Elliott is travelling alone, as her husband, Cyril Kiclmrd. is having ii tremendous sin-cess in a witty revue. "G Sharp." which is expected to run for riome time yet. "I am making a very short trip, purely to spend a few weeks with my parents--you nee. I cannot stay away from my husband ariv longer." smiled Miss Elliott.
