NEW STREET NAMES.
MOUNT ALBERT CHANGES. FAMILIAR SOUND NOT LOST. | Although the names of 33 streets in the borough of Mount Albert are to be changed . under the Auckland-wide scheme to eliminate duplications, the familiar sound of many of them will not be entirely lost. The list of alterations decided upon by a special order of the borough council last night—to be submitted for confirmation at a. special meeting on March 22 —was notable for the happy adroitness of the new names. Alexandra, for instance, will change to Alexis; Bruce to Brewster; Kiwi to Kiwitea; and so on. The name of Mr. R. E. Ferner, former Mayor, will be commemorated in the new name of Belmont Avenue. The changes are as follow:—Albert Street to Bennett Street; Belmont Road to Stilwell Road; Domain Road to Summit Drive; Gladstone Road to Anderson Road; Murdoch Road to McLean Street; .Seaview Terrace to Clay Street; Belmont Avenue to Ferner Avenue; Mountain Road to Kitenui Avenue; Alexandra Avenue to Alexis Avenue; Bruce Avenue to Brewster Avenue; Douglas Avenue to Douro Avenue; Cornwall Road to Cornwallis Road; Gardner Terrace to Guardwell Terrace; Kiwi Street to Kiwitea Street; Livingstone Street to Levonia Street; Morrin Street to Mostyn Street; Mountain Terrace to Mountfield Terrace; Ngatiawa Street to Ngapawa Street; 'Norwood Avenue to Norgrove Avenue; Oak Avenue to Oakfield Avenue; Prospect Terrace to Prospero Terrace; Richmond Street to Richborne Street; Roslyn Terrace to Rossgrove Terrace; Salisbury Road to Sainsbury Road; Selwyn Road to Selcotirt Road; Seymour Street to Seychelles Street; Short Street to Shorwell Street; Thames Avenue to Tha.net Avenue; Veronica Avenue to Verona Avenue; Vincent Terrace to Vinter Terrace; Warwick Street to Warwickshire Street; Wells Street to Wellgartli Street; William I Street to Willcott Street.
