NORDIC SONG RESUMES.

YOUNGSTERS BEING HANDLED. LATEST FB.6M IAKANINI. Round Up, Valamito and Arvakur returned from their trip to the Wellington meeting all looking well, and none the worse for their exertions at that' fixture. Arvakur looks all the better for the racing, while Valamito is standing up to plenty of racing in pleasing style. Bound Up also bears a bright appearance, and will in all probability race next in the Te Aroha Cup. Though none of the trio were able to win on the trip, they all earned place-money and paid expenses. The Liniond—Waterwings colt purchased at the yearling sales by Mr. T. lmpey, who gave 1000 guineas for the chestnut, arrived in Takanini with the above-mentioned trio and enters the stable of. F. Smith. When seen as he was unloaded from the train, the colt certainly looked an aristocrat, and on appearances the high price paid to secure him may be by no means an unprofitable investment, as he looks the part of a potential classic wini>er. Included among those likely to sport silk on Monday at the Takapuna meeting is a two-year-old colt by Surveyor—Desert Fire, named Royevrus, and judging by the manner he has been working of late he should not be disgraced when making his debut. Royevrus lacks nothing on the score of condition, and Is an upstanding colt who takes the eye as a very promising juvenile. He is a member of W. Townsend's team. After enjoying a spell of some weeks on his owner's property, Nordic Song has again been taken in hand, by K. Pope. Nordic Song showed a lot of speed early in the spring, and while lie displayed this in all his races he developed a habit of hanging out badly, and this fact marred his chances. Before the juvenile season concludes Nordic Soung may redeem himself for past failures, as be has returned to work showing the benefit of his spell, in that he is very robust and has furnished considerably as a result. During the past couple of weeks E. Pope! has broken in bis yearling filly by Vaals— Marshland, and the two-year-old by Hoariri —Valaria, both of whom have taken to their education in a kindly manner. These newcomers are very nice fillies and look promising. Incidentally, both are related to the speedy Palustre, the first-named being a half-sister, and the latter's dam, Valaria, is a full-sister to Marshland, the dam of Palustre. C. Morse's attention has also been engaged in breaking in a two-year-old filly by Hunting Song—Rose Willoiiyx, the dam of Two no Trumps, who has raced with success in Australia. This is a neat filly, owned by Mr. J. Spratt, of Gisborne, but she is not being bustled into an active preparation, and is being allowed time to develop before beginning a serious preparation.
