CAR AND TRUCK MEET.
ROTORUA-TAUPO ROAD.
PALMERSTON WOMAN HURT.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. A serious accident occurred at eight o'clock tliis morning at the 30-mile peg on the Rotorua-Taupo main highway, when a heavy saloon car, driven by Mr. Aubrey Jennings Skilton, of 474, Church Road, Palmerston North, came into collision with a light van driven by Walter Foki, of Taupo.
Mrs. Skilton, who wis a passenger in her husband's car, suffered head injuries and severe facia-l injuries caused by flying glass from the windscreen. Two passengers in the van, Mrs. Kahumuka Ilurimui and her husband, Nicholas Hurimui, received cuts on the face, abrasions and shock.
31 rs. Skilton was admitted to the Kotorua Hospital. The collision occurred at a bend in the road. Mr. Skilton was travelling northward to Rotorua and the van was proceeding in the opposite direction. The ear was badly damaged. The windscreen was smashed, the mudguards were badly tron, and the whole front of the car was battered. The van was also extensively damaged.
The Maoris were able to proceed home after receiving medical treatment.
