PRIME MINISTER'S NEW YEAR MESSAGE.
The Prime Minister wound up hi? Xew Year message in the-e terms; "We believe in freedom for all the people, freed en to choose their own leaders and administrator!-, to make their own law#, and freedom to secure the material and spiritual things tliat are worth while in the life of a nation." -Tu-t sr.: May I ask whether Mr. Sa\a'je seriously considers Ithat the treatment meted out to l:--.-:mrs, the crushing and in many case? the extinction of private enterpri-e. the unwarranted interference in but-:not-s. transport restriction? and the repeated threat to muzzle th-e Press and virtually annihilate his opponents, are consistent with freedom of and for the people i If so. then he ha? a very strange conception of this word freedom. The fact i? that Mr. j Savage is an i<lealist and is endeavouring to j bring about a state of Utopia regardless of j the cost or consequences. It is high time the people awoke to the danger of such i lealir-t ideas and practice?, for if they are allowed to continue the ultimate result will be the loss of that individual liberty which we a# true Britons hold so dear.
