OMISSION OF GEORGE DICKINSON.

FIRST TRIP TO AUCKLAND FOR SIXTEEN YEARS

Amazement was the keynote of conversation at Eden Park on Saturday, when it was learned that G. R. Dickinson had been omitted from the Otago eleven to plaj* Auckland. There was general regret, too, because of his colourful personality as an All Black (1922) and New Zealand cricket representative against Victoria (1923), Australia (1927-28),' M.C.C. (Harold Gilligan's eleven, 1929-30), and South Africa (1931-32). Curiously enough lie had played only once for Otago here, at New \ear, 1922. and in the winter of that year he came back to Eden Park to plav five-eighth when South Island beat Xort'h 9—B. His -form got him into the 1922 All Blacks, which lost the rubber in Xew South Wales.

George Dickinson's figures against Auckland fail at Cariebrook except the first season): —
