SENSATIONAL JUMPING.

MISS MUNRO BETTERS

THE RECORD.

BEST LEAP, 18FT SIN.

Despite the fact that she held the New Zealand record for the ladies' broad jump, and that she performed well at the Empire Games trials, Miss Munro was passed over in the final selection of the New Zealand team. When it was pointed out to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association that this non-inclusion appeared unfair the Auckland Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A. was notified that Miss Munro would not be considered again for inclusion unless some outstanding performance was credited to her name.

Confident that Miss Munro was gradually working into her liest form, the Auckland Centre held a further trial for Miss Munro at the Auckland Domain last evening, and the most brilliant jumping by a woman athlete in New Zealand was witnessed. Miss Munro is the holder of the record with 17ft llAin, but she bettered this three times last evening, her six jumps, being 17ft tUin, 18ft 2|in. 17ft 71in. 17ft 6iin. 18ft 3Jin and 18ft 51in. This splendid jumping must cause the New Zealand selectors to reconsider their decision not to include Miss Munro in the Empire Games team.
