LORD DERBY'S HORSES. EIGHT HIGH-CLASS STALLIONS EARNINGS ESTIMATED AT £60,000. Although Lord Derby did not take such a high place as usual on the list of -winning owners during the past season on the flat he looks like having an excellent season with his studhorses. This owner has no fewer than eiirht high-class stallions and at a rough
estimate thsir earnings in the coming season w ill amount to about £60.000.
All are in England with the exception of I'lassy. who is in France at ft fee of 10.000 francs. The foremost of Lord Derby's stud horses are Fairway and Hy]>erion. The former was champion stallion in 193(5 and was second 0:1 tho list to Solario during the past season.
The first of tho stock of Hyperion will appear on the racecourse next year. Both these horses stand at 400gs and there is naturally never any difficulty in filling their subscriptions. Bosworth is full in 10:?S at 2.)ogs. and it is the same with Caerleon at a smaller fee. Sansovino's subscription has still to fill at £148. hut all nominations have been secured for Bobsleigh, the youngest of Lord Derby's staTTions. A Successful Owner. Another owner who has now become a highly successful owner of stud horses is the Aga Khan. Among his stallions in England Bahrain commands tho exceptional fee of 500gs. The only other horse standing at present at that fee in this country is Solario. Another of the Aga Khan's Derby winners, Mahmoud. is full for coming year at 300gs. and Dastnr has- ,t full subscription nt £19S, which is also the fee for the Gold Cup winner Felicitation. The Aga Khan has leased the Egorton House stud from Lord Harewood. Tetratema's Limited List. 1 In addition to Fairway «ud Hyperion several stallions command a fee of 400gs. letratema stands at that figure and it is of interest to note that he to be limited to 1> mares in the coming season. The Italian horse. Donatello. who has now taken up permanent quarters at Newmarket, has a full subscription at 400g*. Windsor Lad's list has been full for some time past at the same price.
