NOVELTY BUTTONS
POPULAR ABROAD. There is endless variety and noveltv in fastenings and in what Schiiipareiii calls gadgets. Such Victorian landmarks as crystal paper-weights filled with tlowers are used as buttons to fasten lovely dinner jacket-, and coloured tapers are lived into candle sockets as fastenings for the jackets of house pyjamas. A new hat i- the klian shape, like a flower-pot or brimle-s top hat that slopes slightly inward. They may be of astrakhan matching the coat collar or of felt, the edge surrounded with a velvet twist and a big flat velvet bow climbing the front, for example.
