DALGETY AND COMPANY.
MR. A. W. A. PERKINS' SERVICE
Manager of the Auckland branch of Dalgety and Company, Limited, for the past 28 years, Mr. A. W. A. Perkins has announced his retirement. He will be succeeded at the end of the month by Mr. H. N. Eiby, present Wellington manager.
Mr. Perkins, born in Southland, gained considerable experience as an auctioneer in Christchurch. In 1906 he opened a branch of Dalgety's at Dannevirke and shortly afterwards became assistant manager at Napier. Twenty-eight years ago he came to Auckland as manager and has held that position through a period of great expansion. Mr. Perkins was for 14 years chairman of the Auckland Woolbrokers' Association. During the war he was chairman of the Auckland branch of the Imperial Supplies Department. For a number of years he has been a member of the committee of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. He is also the local director of the Victoria Insurance Company. Other changes in the New Zealand staff of Dalgety and Company are also being made. Mr. F. St. J. Loughnan, manager of the Invercargill branch, is to retire on January 31 and will be succeeded by Mr. H. R. Williams, manager at Gisborne. Mr. Williams was previously the company's representative at Otautau. Mr. H. S. Barns, lately manager at Nairobi, Kenya, has been appointed manager at Wellington, and Mr. K. B. Garland, auctioneer at Palmerston North, is to become manager at Gisborne. Mr. S. G. Hale, who has been Mr. Perkins' assistant, will become sub-manager at Auckland.
