It wa» first intended <to remove all the willows, bat as the ! result of protests from settlers, who feared that this work wou-d cause ! erosion and damage, the scheme nas , been modified, and only thoee trees an-d snags that are actually causing oast rue- j tion will be removedVarious methods will be employed. Some trees will be poisoned, and others | will have their branches lopped off. • Others will be cut low. while the root : system will be left to protect the bank*, j - Xamerous pants will be used.
