STILL NO SHELTER.

I was glad to learn from "Bus Owner"' that there was at least a reason, if not a good one, for the non-provision of waiting facilities for outward-bound passengers at the bus stop immediately beyond the head of Grafton Bridge. It was news to me that the matter had even been considered; but however weighty the consideration, and however cogent the reasons of either the City Council or the bus owners for refusing the terms under which a shelter might be provided, the bus users still have no shelter. It does seem to me, on the face of it, somewhat unjust that bus proprietors should be asked to foot the entire cost of the building of an elaborate bus shelter in which was to be included accommodation for the council's traffic department; and I must admit that I can see the reason that the bus owners refused the council's terms. On the other hand, there is the blunt fact-—still no shelter. "Bus Owner" says that the , matter has reached a deadlock, and probably will remain in that condition for months, and so another winter will come and go, and still nothing done. This prospect is not to be tolerated, and it reflects but little credit on the parties concerned. If the fault lis the City Council's, then what is the use of the council talking loudly about its pride in the city, and everybody's pride in the city, when the pride of the City Corporation begins and ends in words? Here is an obvious thing to be done. Let someone get to work ana do it. Deeds not words. BUS USER.
