WATER SPOUTS SEEN.
SWAYED ABOUT RAPIDLY. (From Our Correspondent.) HAMILTON", Tuesday. A well-defined water spout was seen on a recent afternoon hanging from the lower edge of a very dark cloud bank a few miles to the north of Hamilton. In appearance the spout was long and tapering and swayed about rapidly, being at times almost horizontal toward the east.
About five minutes after it was first seen the spout broke up and disappeared, but 15 minutes later another one developed" in almost the same region. It was longer and more active than the first, but also disippcared after live minutes. Neither spout extended more than halfway from cloud bank to the ground. Their appearance was in most respects similiar to the water spout which passed over the Te Pahu district about five years ago when some farm buildings were razed.
