FINISHED SOLIDLY.

The Te Rapa-trained Awhiowhio put up hie best effort to date when he accounted for the Waitemata Handicap. He was badly placed after the field had gone a couple of furlongs,- but gradually made up the leeway and was handy to the leaders at the end of mile. From then' on he came home In very solid style, though lie had to be' ridden out, and only got the verdict by a narrow margin. In his two subsequent starts at the meeting •Awhiowhio failed to- get in the money, but he is a useful sort who should be "worth following at the country meetings.
