% — 1 ORANGES ARE CHEAPER. DROP IN TOMATOES. VEGETABLE PRICES LOWER. The price of outdoor tomatoes fell at the City Markets to-day, a large quantity being available. Strawberries had a fair inquiry, but there was no demand for poor quality lines. The price of oranges was lower, demand being fair. The inquiry | for choice quality peaches was good, a 1 few extra choice lines realising very high values. Black currants brought lower values. Selling rates: — Apples: Delicious, Hawke's Bay, 2/6 to 4/ per case; .Dougherty, llawke's Bay, 6/ to 11/; \\ inesap, 27 . Heavy quantities of beans sold very cheaply to-day. but peas, though in good supply, sold well if young and green. If ripe they were hard to quit. The juice of lettuce was lower, due to an oversupply, and kuniaras also dropped, owing to an over-abundant offering. The market was slutted with cucumbers and marrows, which sold cheaply, but carrots were ill keen demand for the time of the year. 1 here was a irood demand for potatoes, which were offered in satisfactory quantities.
