WEATHER FORECAST.

FOR CITY AND PROVINCE. Ths Government Meteorologist issued to the "Auckland Star" this afternoon the following special weather forecast for the Auckland province to as far south as Hamilton, Kawhia and* Tauranga:—

Moderate south-easterly winds, becking slowly to the east and northeast and rising in places to gale or strong gale force. Weather becoming dull and misty and rain developing. Heavy falls and possibly flooding during the nest two or three dsvs. Seas moderate, but rising and later becoming rough to high on the East Coast.

A deep and extensive tropical cyclone has been moving southwards from the New Hebrides and was centred this morning north-west of Norfolk Island. Pressure is relatively high to the east of the South Island. HAURAKI GULF CONDITIONS. The following report of weather conditions in the Hsuraki Oulf was received from Tiritiri Island at noon MHltjf Wind, south-east, light; sea. ; weather, fine but hazy; visibility, fair; barometer, falling. FON THE DOMINION. For 24 hours from S a.m. this day: The indications are for moderate eoutii-easterlies, backing to east or north-east, and rising to gale force There is a prospect of fair to cioudv w *f l s er » ,horl, » du " with much mist '?■ ,n probable with some heavy falls and flooding possible during next two or three days. The barometer has a falling tendency. Seas moderate but increasing; later becoming rough to high.
