Beginning to-morrow with the arrival of the Orient liner Orford, fourth short summer cruise ship of the season, the port of Auckland will experience a fairly heavy' influx of passenger shipping during the coming few days. The OrfordV which is bringing a total of 850 passengers, is expected off North Head about 6 a.m. and should l >e alongside at 7 o'clock. Of her passengers 102 are disembarking at Auckland and Wellington.

The following day, Christmas Eve, the Matson Line's steamer Mariposa is due, southward bound from Pacific Coast and islalnd ports. She left Suva for Auckland yesterday and is expectrnl as usual at 7 a.m. on Friday and will pick up more than 200 Auckland passengers for Australia. She has a large number of through and landing passengers from northern ports. In recent months the Matson vessels have occasionally deferred their customary 5 p.m. sailing for Sydney until 10 p.-m., but on Friday the vessel will clear on schedule.

No passenger ships will berth on Christmas Day or on the Sunday, bnf Monday will see the arrival from Sydney of Canadian-Australasian Line's Niagara and the Union Steam Ship Company's island trader Mattia from Suva. The following day the Jorvis Bay, another cruise ship, is due from Australia via Wellington.
