GOVERNMENT'S BIG SCHEME. MR. SAVAGE CONFIDENT. (By Telegrupl)—Own Oorrtv<r»c»mloixT.) WELLINGTON, this day. Leaving his office to-day for a holiday trip to Auckland, the Prime Minister, the Kt. Hon. M. .T, Savage, recalled in regard to the current year that the only thing which had looked like a holiday had h(>eii the sea voyage to and from England. He anticipate® returning to hie desk in Parliament Building on January 3, and expects that most of his Ministers will also be on dntv at that time, when they will begin the "biggest tiling oil the Government's pr< gramme."

"We have had a committee at work for months collecting a lot of information to provide us with a national health insurance and superannuation scheme," he said. "The Cabinet as a whole uiuet finally approve the scheme, and at the beginning it will be a task for two or three Ministers to get the scheme in shape.

'"There arc people in tliis country wlio think it cannot be done. I say it can and will, though 1 don't suppose for .1 moment we will reach our objective immediately. However, we will make a substantial beginning and will go further ahead than New Zealand has ever experienced in these respects. It was a great transformation when New Zealand brought in old age pensions, and -we will have a still greater one now," he concluded.
