EXCOMMUNICATED.
PATRIARCH FOR ABYSSINIA. (Received 1.30 p.m.) CAIRO, December 20. The Holy Synod of the Egyptian Coptic Church has excommunicated Amba Abraham, whom the Italians recently nominated as Patriarch of Abyssinia. A message received on December 3 stated that the Coptic Church of Abvssinia had been released from the influence of the Patriarch of Alexandria and included in the sphere of Italian activities. An Italian nominee, it was expected, would supersede Abulia Cyril, the Abyssinian Primate.
