Contests for the top of the Associations Indies' la.Uler and for hr. place in the men s section were played last match between Misses Bishop and Ramsey the former kept a pood lc "Sth bv Koine to the net, cut off many of Miss Ramsay's chopped replies . Bishop hit hard and through out and won in straight sets, In the men s challenge roateb Brown dia rorter the honour of playing his ha and, except for an occasional mis-hit smash, he played practically errorless tennis to take the first fiv* games. Porter «on the sixth game on his opponent s 5 ' Brown served out the next game to '"porter started serving in the second set and showed better form, although he ma* unable to cope with Brown s strong driving which had him continuously on the defensive. Brown led 4—l. and took the sixth game to love on his service. Porter w„n his own service, but Brown served out the match in the next game to win, 6—l, 6 Other ladter matches resulted as f"l----low= •—S J. Robinson beat A. Satcheu, 6—4, 7—5 ; J. w. Gunn beat V. R. Johns, 6_i, 6—4; J. T. Mayson beat M. T. Wileon, 6—4, 6—2.
