Several horses worked on the No. 3 grass and the tail tracks. Knight of Australia (J. Melnally) was first out and completed a round in 2.9. lie ran the last seven furlongs in 1.33 4-5 and the final six in 1.21 1-5. He finished full of running and it was a good trial. Kilonsa (R. Fearn) finished in front of Aero King (McTavish) and Land Girl (McCunly) at the end of seven furlonpt which occupied 1.31 1-5. This was tne second bent gallop of the morning over the distance. Oratory (B. H. Morris) went evenly while traversing .five furlongs in 1.4 3-5. She worked nicely and could have improved on the time. The best half mile was credited to Ben Braggie (Atkins), who ran the distance in 51s. It j was his first fast sprint since arriving here and he acquitted himself well. Tre- 1 vace (Melnally), after taking 39 l-5s for i his first three furlongs, completed six in 1.10. Courtcraft (Atkins) led Kelly (Gilchrist) and Royal Chief (light boy) over a mile in 1.43 4-5. The last six furlongs took 1.18 4-5 and the final half mile 30 3-.">s. Courtcraft put plenty of dash into his work and finished a couple of lengths cleat- of Kelly, with Royal Chief further back. The last-named was moving short. Trench Fight (Jennings) ran three furJongs in 38s and continued on to complete seven in 1.33 3-5. He was going well within himself at the end. Argentic (McTavish) and Cerne Abbas (C. G. Goulsbro) were over a length in front of Padishah (Atkins), with The Buzzer (B. H. Morris) close up at the conclusion of a round in 2.8 2-5. The last seven furlongs took 1.33.3-5, six 1.21 1-5 and the final four 53 3-ss. Cerne Abbas and Argentic finished strongly in the straight and both impressed. Padishah, who worked lazily, put up a fair showing. A Fast Five. Gay Broney (P. Fearn; and My Money (R. Fearn,) finished in front of Jolly Dance (Melnally) and Royal Appellant (J. Buchanan) at the end of seven furlongs run in 1.34, the first three taking 40 l-ss. Royal Appellant did not appear to work as freely as usual. Over a similar distance Wild Chase (Jennings) occupied 1.33 3-5. He ran the first two in 25 2-,j« and had a bit in reserve at the finish. Shy (CameronJ covered a round in 2.11 4-5. He traversed the last seven furlongs in 1.35 2-5 and the last half mile in 54 4-ss. He was not putting much dash into his work at the finish, probably due to working alone. Valepear (L. Dulicu) jumped off at the seven-furlong post and was timed to run the last six in 1.22 1-5. The Great Northern Foal Stakes candidate, Te Hero (C. G. Goulsbro) had Homily (Atkins) as a companion over three furlongs run in 38 l-ss. They went from the six to the threefurlong peg and were both going well at the end. Bronze Lady (R. Fearn) I was allotted a useful task, but was not timed. Paper Slipper (Jennings) and Nightdress (light boy), after taking 24 3-5s for their first two furlongs, were on terms at the conclusion of five run m 1.3 2-5. Paper Slipper worked very freely and Nightdress also shaped satisfactorily. Bronze Ora (R. Fearn) shaded Silver Cloud (E. Manson), with Rajanya (P. Fearn) a little over a length away at the conclusion of half a mile in 51 l-ss. Bronze Ora pleased by his effort. The fastest five furlongs was accomplished by De Friend (Atkins) and Peter Beckford (C. G. Goulsbro), who ran the distance in 1.2 3-5. They traversed the first two in 24 3-5s and there was nothing between them at the post. Thurlap (Cammick) and YarraWin (Melnally) completed a similar task in 1.8 4-5, after taking 26s for their first two furlong. Tray Bit (Vaughan), after taking 24s for Ills first two furlongs, ran five in 1.3. He was going exceptionally well over the final stages. Kiltowyn (C. G. Goulsbro), who ljad a fair amount of pace on when he went away from the seven-furlong post, came home in 1.30 2-5. He ran the first three in 38s and the first half mile in 50 2-ss. This was a really food trial. Play On (Goldfinch) did useul work over six furlongs, taking a shade under 15s to the furlong. United (Gemmell) strode over half a mile in 53 2-ss. Tybalt (Gilchrist), after taking 40 4-5s for his first three furlongs, completed seven in 1.35. He worked lazily and could have improved on the time. The two-year-old Coronation reeled off three furlongs in 38 2-ss. It was a smart effort and he did it well. No. 3 Grass. Silver Cloud came home from the halfmile post in 51 l-5s and Clembroney and The Trimmer sprinted three furlongs in 38s. Sir Abb and Marie's Acre also worked on this track. On the Tan. Captain Bruce did strong work over a round, taking 2.7 2-5, the last six furlongs occupying 1.22 4-5. Wotan also strode over six furiongs, but was not going better than three-quarter pace. Tiverton was in front of Siega over a round in 1.57 2-5, the last half mile taking 56 3-ss. Saceone was given strong work over a circuit, taking 2.1 2-5. Fersen, Black Thread, Ohmaha, Blue Tiger, Stretto, Suleiman and Jonathan were also given useful tasks. The Junipers. Royal Mimic (Trillo) and Tahae Mea (Turvey) gave a safe display over four hurdles in the centre and got through their task safely. They afterwards ran six furlongs on the No. 3 grass track in 1.24 2-5. Adsum was sent over the same hurdles and gave a first-class exhibition. He afterwards ran half a mile ou the course proper in 54 4-ss. Barrier practice will be carried out at the seven-furlong post on the course proper at 9 a.m. to-morrow, when several two-yen r-olds and novices will be dispatched from this point.
