ELOCUTION RECITAL.
Mrs. Maisie Carte-Lloyd presented her pupils in an interesting and varied programme of elocutionary and dramatic recitals at the Penwomen's Club rooms on Saturday evening. The performers, some very youthful, acquitted themselves with great credit, exhibiting appreciation and understanding of their items, which were particularly well chosen. A short play, "Hansel and C.retcl," met with appreciation by the audience, the performers being Margaret Newell, Vaney Cliittv and Frances Tate. A playette-, "Giving Aunt Jane a Shork." was contributed by Grafton School pupils. Another playette. "Tit for Tat," was enacted by Lorna Dohertv, Faye Melles. Frances Tate and Mervyn Caton. " Miss Milligan's School." by St. Helier's School pupils, was another outstanding performance.
Items also were contributed by Tess Carte-Lloyd, Alice McKellar. Nina Hollingworth, June Caldwell, lan Brown, Nancy Chitty. Faye Melles. Mervyn Caton. Laurice and Ethel Pye. Patty Norman. Wilma Hendy, Dorothy Gilbert. Jack Hollingworth. Malcolm Fraser and Anne Conynghani. Mrs. Melles played incidental music and gave a musical monologue.
