FORMER FRENCH CONSUL.
CITY COUNCIL'S TRIBUTE. The death of M. Edouard .Toubert. formerly Consul for France in Auckland, was referred to at a special meeting of the Auckland City Council last evening. The Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, said that, the late consul had made many friendships with the business |>eople of Auckland. He was a perfect French gentleman who had endeared himself to everybody. Sir George Richardson added a tribute on lichalf of the returned soldios. A motion of sympathy was passed in silence.
