PRISONER ESCAPES.
POLICE DESCRIPTION,

PALMERSTON N.. Monday
An elderly prisoner, Frederick Hendry, who was being taken this evening from Hastings, where he wa* arrested, to Auckland to face a criminal charge, escaped from custody when being transferred from one train to another at t'le Palinerston North railway station between 9.45 and 10 o'clork. Hendry is described as 01 years of age. Oft lin in height, and with a silver grey moustache. He is deaf, and was attired in a light grey euit.
