BACK TO TARIFFS.
PROTECTION IN AUSTRALIA. (Received 11 a.m.) CANBERRA, this day. The Minister for Customs, Mr. T. W. White, announced in the House of Representatives that the Government would abandon the licensing system on which its trade diversion policy was based, and would revert to the use of the tariff to protect Australian industries.
