DECISION RESERVED.
TRANSPORT AUTHORITY.
TITIRAXGI BUS SERVICES,
After hearing lengthy evidence from
residents within the district served' and representatives of the companies concerned, the Xo. 1 Transport Licensing Authority. Mr. E. J. Phelan, yesterday reserved liis decision in the ill which the Auckland-Titirangi and AucklandLaingholm bus services of E. J. McQuoid and the Auckland-Titirangi service of the Auckland Bus Company came up for review. The authority intimated that he was faced with the alternatives of eliminating one service, curtailing the activities of one or the ether of the operators, or adjusting the timetables with both companies continuing to operate.
The principal witness for the Auckland Bus Company yesterday afternoon was Robert E. McCrae, managing director of the company, who said' that the time-table submitted as being suitable for both operators would give the Titirangi district an hourly service, and would obviate clashing. Witness considered there was room for the two services as passengers were picked up from different localities. Xo agreement had been reached between the two operators conc«rning time-tables, and Mr. McQuoid had declined an offer of £2089 for his services. In referring to the suggestion that the Auckland Bus Company should cea*e to run beyond New Lvnn, witness said the Titirangi service was important to the company, which had an annual return of £4000. It would be a serious blow to the company to lose the Titirangi revenue, and the gain to be had by operating to New Lynn exclusively would not compensate for it.
