AUCKLAND HARBOUR AREA.
PREPARATIONS FOR TEST FLIGHTS
Auckland Harbour is now a licensed public aerodrome for use by all types of seaplanes and flying-boats.
This fact, particularly interesting at the moment because of the trial Might plans of English- and American air lines, was reported to the Auckland Harbour Board at its meeting this afternoon by the superintendent and engineer. Mr. D. Holdernesa. He said the harbour area had been licensed on November 1.3 under the Air Navigation Begulations, 193.3.
In the same connection Mr. Holderness gave a progress report on the preparations in hand for the arrival of the Pan-American Airways Clipper and the Imperial Airways flying-boat Centaurus. He said the paving of the quay next to the section leased to Pan-American Airways had been completed, and the small jetty constructed by the beard on the company's behalf was ready for u- , . Sufficient progress had been made by the company on the connect in;-. ..an - way. floating stage and moorings to ensure the safety of the Clipper when she arrived on her second survey flight.
