STATE HOUSES.
FIRST ORAKEI BLOCK READY,
I It is expected that the first block of ; State houses at Orakei will be ready ' for occupation before Christmas. Some weeks ago hundreds of applications for tenancy received at the Auckland office , of the State Advances Corporation were forwarded to Wellington, together with the results of the Departmental inspectors' investigations. Work remains to be done in the laying out of the paths and gardens of the 60 houses now erected, but with this completed it is expected that after the formalities of signing tenancy agreements, tenants will be offered immediate occupation. '
