LOCAL BODY ELECTION.
LABOUR PARTY'S INTEREST. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHf. this day. At a recent meeting of the Waihi brunch of the Labour party, the <|ik-s----tion of the nomination of candidates for local body elections was discussed. It was thought that the party should take a more active interest in local body affaire.
It is understood that candidates will be selected by the local branch for various positions on all Ux'al bodies and public institutions, including the Waihi Borough Council, the Ohinenmri County Council, the newly-constituted Thames Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, the Thames Licensing Committee, local school* committee, and the Auckland Education Board.
A preliminary survey of candidates for the municipal elections in May was made, but the names are not yet available.
