STORES AND METALS STRONG.

(By Telegraph.— Specinl to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Every clay brings a steady improvement in most Stock Exchange quotations, and this morning a firm list ot prices showed further improvement. Ch.iiu store, metal uiul industrial shares were in good deirmnd. The banking section was quiet, with buyers predominating. Commercials of Australia made a recovery of 2d, to 17/, and I-]., S. and A.'s sold unaltered at £5 5/. Buyers of Unions at £9 5/ found no sellers. Steady buying limits characterised quotations for loan and agencies, and in the following section Xew Zealand Breweries had a market from £2 7/3 to £2 8/. In miscellaneous issues Australian Glass moved 1 ,"? higher, to £4 8/3, with a closing market between £4 8/ and £4 8 .>. Buyers for Broken Hill Proprietary fully puids offered £32, 6. and for the ' con tri hut ings £ 1 15 4. Colonial Sugars were firmer than recent quotations, though the sale price was weaker than the last local business a fortnight ago. G. J. Coles sold at the higher rate of £4 3/6, with subsequent sellers at the same price. In metals Broken Hill Souths finished with quotations from £1 18/1 to £1 )B'3, and Mount Morgans from £1 13/3 to £1 13 4, with final sellers at 12/4, and buvers 2d below. SALES RECORDED.
