AMUSEMENTS.
ROXY-TIVOLI. Mary Astor will be seen in the first starring role of a long career in '"Lady From Nowhere," which, will open at the Rosy and Tivoli Theatres to-morrow. In addition, the film also introduces to the theatre public the new screen ''find," Charles Quigley, well-known New York stage star, who is hailed abroad as a promising leading man. The stor3% which contains romance, comedy and exciting drama, concerns the adventures of a manicurist who witnesses a gangland murder and has to flee for her life. Her flight takes her to a small town, where she meets a young newspaperman. After that real complications set in, leading up to an unusual climax. Also listed in the cast are Gene Morgan, Rita La Roy and Thurston Hall.
Evijs inherent in easy prison paroles in the United States are dealt with in the second film, "Freedom for Sale," which has Rosalind Keith and Paul Kelly starred. The picture ie a stirring expose of a racket to release convicted criminals from prison to continue their murderous exploits under the "auspices" of "big-time underworld gangsters. It tells the tale of a desperate detective (Paul Kelly), who sete out to break down the racket and wages •war on them when they menace the life of the girl he loves. Featured in the cast are Thurston Hall and Gene Morgan.
