GIFT OF TOYS.
DAY AT SEASIDE.
KINDERGARTEN CHILDREN
Many young Aucklanders are hoping for a fine day to-morrow. Arrangements have been made to take 200 children from nine Auckland kindergartens to Eastern Beach for a picnic. They will make the journey in five buses in charge of kindergarten officials, and before leaving the beach each, child will be presented with tovs.
Arrangements for the outing have been made by Mr. Harold Walmsley, of Eastern Beach, who for a numbeV of years has taken a particular interest in the children. A returned soldier. Mr. Walmsley has been partially incapacitated at times through war injuries, and he has made a speciality of toy-making and .repairs of toys for free distribution" He was known as "the man at the window" some time ago. He was bedridden then, and lived in Grafton Eoad near Symonds Street. He became well known to Auckland people, as daily he sat by his window facing the street. Making children's toys kept him busy. Since then Mr. Walmsley has been in better health, and all his leisure has been devoted either to toy making or toy mending for a good cause. A number of friends and business houses have assisted with the appeal for the children this year. There have been generous gifts, and every effort will be made to make the day a memorable one for the children.
