BIRTHDAY PARTY.
TRUBY KING JUNIOR LEAGUE
The Otahv.hu branch of the Truby King Junior League held its birthday party in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Saturday afternoon.
A fancy dress parade of children was judged by Mrs. Pellet and Mrs. McDell, the following being awarded prizes: Jean Kellow (shepherdess), Alice Philp (washing day), Adrienne Lane (queen), Margaret Mitchell (special flower), Alban Lane and Lennie Mitchell (duck and green peas and waiter), Ivan Kemp (parachutist), Valerie Jones (teapot), Kathleen Mahony (brand of tea). Pianoforte solos were rendered by Joyce and Freddie Mitchell. Theo and Monica Berkhout and Ivan Kemp, while Mona Cummings gave a tap dance. Quite good business was done by a stall in charge of the members of the Junior League comprising lima and Enid Nield, Lorna Jackson and Margaret Montgomery. The Plunket Society's stall was in charge of Mesdames J. Mclvor, Harold Turner, J. McAnulty, N. Walters, J. E. Gillies, F. W. Grey, C. Hampton ami Jackson. During the afternoon Mrs. Wilkinson eulogised the work of the secretary, Mrs. T. W. Nield, who is leaving at an early date to take up her residence in Dargaville. The committee responsible for the afternoon's functions comprised Mesdames T. W. Nield, Kemp, Pearce. Beaumont and Warrington. Mr. T. W. Nield was master of ceremonies, and Mrs. J. E. Gillies acted as accompanist.
